Banbury Guardian Home from Home Appeal
PROCEEDS from the community awards presentation night at Rye Hill Golf Club on September 21 will go to the Banbury Guardian Home from Home Appeal.
The appeal is to raise funds for an activities room at the Oxfordshire Cheshire Homes new site in Warwick Road, Banbury.
The room will be at the heart of the home - a place where residents can go to try out and learn new skills and where they are encouraged to develop their creative side with arts and crafts.
Painting, story telling, music workshops, and visits by artists will all take place there.
We need £45,000 to kit it out and we will then be allowed to name the room. We will be asking for readers’ suggestions later in the appeal.
Sue Woodward, volunteer and activity co-ordinator, said: "I am delighted Banbury Guardian readers have decided to adopt the activity room as a focus for their fundraising.
"The social and creative side of people is so often neglected but we encourage residents to participate because it helps build their confidence."
The home's new complex is due to be completed next year, when it will make the move from its current site at Greenhill House, Adderbury
