HILLTOP Farm Shop and Cafe is a family business that specialises in local traditional produce. The business is part of the farm that produces lamb, beef, asparagus, summer vegetables and arable crops including wheat, barley. peas and beans. In October 2003, the Shop and Cafe was built in a converted barn at the top of Hunningham Hill, boasting stunning views across Warwickshire

The family farm’s philosophy is that good food should be locally sourced, high quality and fairly priced. The range includes everyday essentials to gourmet fine speciality foods. They also have an organic range of fruit, vegetables, cheese and drinks and they cater for special dietary needs. Seasons are important at the shop so the food availability reflects what is grown locally at the time. Growing their own lamb and beef means the meat is of the finest quality.
The Cafe Open Monday-Saturday (9am-5pm), Sunday (9am-4pm)
Everything sold in the cafe is freshly prepared, using ingredients from the shop. Their award-winning breakfasts are a good way to start the day. And for lunch, the menu changes daily with a wide range of home made starters, main courses, salads and puddings. Of course, cream teas, tea cakes and homemade cakes and biscuits are also available. With home grown beef on the menu, it is no surprise that it Sunday lunches are extremely popular. There are two sittings at 12.30pm and 2.30pm. Booking is essential.
The Hayloft Restaurant Open Friday and Saturday evenings, bookings from 7-9pm.
The family farm’s traditionally reared meat provides a tempting evening menu for its fully licensed restaurant. Sample the wide range of wines which bring out the best in the meals.

Recipe for Hunters Lamb Casserole Serves 4
Ingredients -
- 800G Lamb Shoulder-Diced
- 2 Medium Onions
- 1 Small Head of Celery
- 4 Heaped Tablespoons of Tomato Puree
- 6 Fresh Tomatoes-Roughly Chopped
- 3 Heaped Tablespoons of Light Brown Sugar
- Half a Pint of Red Wine
- 2 Tablespoons of English Mustard
- 2 Tablespoons of Horseradish
- 2 Pints of Beef Stock
- 4 Bay Leaves
Method -
- Marinade the Lamb in the Wine for 4 hours then drain and retain.
- In a heated pan,place the diced lamb and brown all over.
- Remove the meat from pan,drain the fat off and lightly fry the onions and celery for a minute.
- Add the lamb back to the pan and stir in the tomato puree,mustard,horseradish,sugar and the retained red wine.
- Bring to the boil and then simmer for one and a half hours-skimming every 20 minutes.
- Check the texture of the lamb and then season with salt and pepper to taste.
